DEAR FRIENDS, BENEFACTORS, SUPPORTERS AND FELLOW DIRECTORS,
JAMES F. DENTINGER
President, JAMES F. DENTINGER
Since 1981, the Buffalo Renaissance Foundation and its directors have been driven by a passion to move our community forward.
2015 is already underway as evidenced by the sold-out Spring Luncheon at the historic Kleinhan’s Music Hall, where we recognized Kim and Terry Pegula as our Renaissance Couple of the Year for their contributions to Buffalo with the purchase of the Bills and the unveiling of the beautiful HarborCenter down at Canalside.
Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan was part of our keynote panel that was moderated by former Bill Steve Tasker and included the Pegulas. The discussion was lively and entertaining for a crowd that exceeded 500 in the Mary Seaton Room.
Our third Sculptural Art Initiative, a joint effort with the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site, is nearing completion. A replica statue of Theodore Roosevelt will be unveiled in the fall and will join the Spirit of Life and Spirit of Transportation pieces as part of our BRF collection.
Our 33rd annual golf tournament is set for September 2 at Crag Burn Golf Club. The tournament, the second-oldest charity tournament in Western New York, will return to its roots where the first annual event was held in 1982.
This year’s eighth annual Veterans Luncheon, an event that continues to grow and support our local veteran community, will be held once again in November and will honor our fifth scholarship recipient.
During our spring director retreat, we decided to suspend appropriations for the 2015 year to concentrate and accumulate funds related to a Forward Thinking Project that will have a greater impact on our community in the future. We look forward to disclosing our future plans when they are finalized.
Not many not-for-profit agencies can say that every dollar raised in their fund-raising events goes 100% to charity or is put into our endowment for future charitable giving. Our director dues fund 100% of our administrative costs and director expenses, so every dollar raised ends up in the hands of charities or organizations that meet our mission.
Thank you for your support in the past and into the future. Hopefully you will find our work inspirational, interesting, and fun, as well as something you will continue to be a part of. We have some new initiatives in the works that will focus on the current renaissance going on in Buffalo today. Together, we can continue to move Buffalo, forward.
JAMES F. DENTINGER
